While you can’t update the processor on your Mac, you may be able to add more RAM. This is possible on many iMacs, the Mac Pro, and some Mac mini models. For laptops, it’s a bit more difficult; check around to see if any company offers upgrades for your laptop. This will involve a technician opening up the Mac and performing surgery; not something I’d recommend doing at home. If you want to try, though, check the iFixit website; they have great teardowns and walkthroughs that may help. Shift-Option-⌘-R Drives formatted as APFS can be read from and written to by Macs whose drives are formatted as APFS, or HFS+, if the Mac is running High Sierra in the latter case. However, APFS-formatted drives, such as external hard disks and USB flash drives, cannot be read by Macs running older versions of macOS, even 10.12 Sierra. Support ended in 2017. Supposedly still works. See below.

Of course, High Sierra also brings with it the new APFS file system, and Apple recommends using only Disk Utility, System Image Utility, or the diskutil command to create images of APFS containers. Also, if you’re using macOS Server to restore client computers with flash storage via a NetRestore image, Apple recommends creating the image source from a Mac running High Sierra connected via Target Disk Mode, rather than from the macOS Installer.

I have used *censored*tail since it was first introduced, and have been very pleased with its capabiity and performance. However, this is the first version tha I have had any difficulty with. After running 4.3.2 and restarting my PowerBook 17 inch, all I got was a a loud "beep" and a gray screen. I turned off the PowerBook and restarted several times with the same result, but after the third try my Mac rebooted, but it took much longer than usual. I was prepared to use by backup copy of my hard drive to reinstall my drive to the level of my last backup - one week old. I am not sure what happened, but provide this feedback just in case this is a problem that affects others. A word of advice, make sure you have a back-up of your hard drive before installing *censored*tail or similar programs.
Gotcha on first boot: Firefox hung. Whether this was a new version of Firefox or an interaction with the new OS, it could not restore its old windows.
Unlike the software developed for Windows system, most of the applications installed in Mac OS X generally can be removed with relative ease. Cocktail is a third party application that provides additional functionality to OS X system and enjoys a popularity among Mac users. However, instead of installing it by dragging its icon to the Application folder, uninstalling Cocktail may need you to do more than a simple drag-and-drop to the Trash.
